You should also keep shrubs, bushes and other vegetation well maintained, especially around decks, patios and play areas.
- Use Insect Repellent
Don’t forget the bug spray when you’re spending time outside. It doesn’t just keep away ticks, but can also deter mosquitoes and other biting pests.
- Stay On The Trail
When you’re going for nature walks or hikes, stay in the center of the trail and away from vegetation where ticks could be hiding.
- Protect Your Pets
When you’re thinking about tick prevention, don’t forget about your pets! Avoid walking your dog in tall grass, and check for ticks after spending time outside. Pets are just as susceptible to tick bites as humans. You can also get your dog a tick repellent collar for extra protection.
